It only took me about an hour and a half to sort my sewing machine out, another hour to thread it and make it work properly once I'd put it back together, and then about twenty minutes to actually cut it, hem it and tear the shoulder pads out.
Ok, so as some of you might already know, my boyfriend and two of his friends are launching their record label, Records On Ribs on Tuesday of next week here:http://recordsonribs.com/

"Records On Ribs is a record label that distributes all its music as free, high-quality downloads under a Creative Commons license as well as lovingly packaged, fairly priced and beautifully made traditional formats."

So yeah, free albums! Lots of different types of music on there but I would especially reccomend We Show Up On Radar (who are shortly to be on an AOL advert!) who are heartbreakingly lovely and twee.

Go here:http://nottinghamac.facebook.com/profile.php?id=5956134707 to see what is being released on Tuesday. And join, sign up, download and spread the news!

If anyone writes a music blog, or for any kind of website/magazine...it'd be good to get a mention! It's not a money making exercise (fairly obviously) but they want as many people as possibly to use the website, and Alex has spent fucking hours making the website so, it'd be great if people visited:)

I might have a go at the suggested puzzle too, as seen in nature's free association blog. I love that blog.

In other science related news, I haven't heard anything from the job i applied to. I'm actually going to a school with them tomorrow to help with a session (on forensics) so I guess even if I haven't got an interview I can get work experience out of hem. I have a feeling i really messed up the application. It's hard knowing what they want to hear. Also, rather than write a standard 'i can do this' statement, i went a bit mad and quoted feynmann and einstein. Still. I'll stand out.

It's spider season. They're EVERYWHERE. Fabulous.

I was using it and charging my ipod through it without it being connected to the wall, left the room, came back and it had gone off and wouldn't come on - the light on the right hand side of the camera on the lid flashes a bit, but thats it. I thought the battery must have died so plugged it into the wall- nothing. I took the battery out and plugged it in, again nothing. I'm leaving it charging now but it still won't turn on. WHAT IS WRONG WITH IT?

This, combined with the fact that after a week the casing was coming lose, means it is going back to Apple and STAYING THERE.
Happy Easter everyone! I realise there's few Christians on my flist, but erm, yeah! Happy Chocolate Egg day to everyone else:)

I just had to explain the meaning of Easter to my 10 yr old sister. What are schools teaching them these days?? And it's not as if my mum hasn't explained to her either. Though she did make a good point in that she hasn't been Christened yet so how can we possibly expect her to know anything? Touche.

This means listening to Le Tigre is research.

My dissertation now contains the lines: "But hang on a minute! These are artificial protein fusions- what REALLY happens?!?!" and "They showed that you can inhibit elongation by RNAPII by fucking about with Sug1." A first? For me? Why thank you!

I am currently annoyed by the fact that Fairy are giving away free manicure kits with their washing up liquid, and a washing up powder brand (I forget which one, I'll check) are giving away free pink floral aprons. Both these give aways are clearly aimed at women. What about men who wash up? I appreciate that there are probably some men who want a manicure, or a pink apron- but most won't. But then again, I guess in most fairy buying household, women do most of the washing up. At least, that's what there market research tells them.
Hmm. It's still bothering me though. It just gives the message that domestic chores are a woman's job. Hmm. And I'm a woman and I'm so undomestivated it's stupid. If I don't marry a man who can clean/cook/cross the road without getting hit by a car, I'll probably die.

EDIT: After my bizarre but entertaining dream about beattiedee's wedding, I have decided to go into business as a wedding planner.
